I recently read Shawn Achor's New York Times Best Selling Book, The Happiness Advantage: How a Positive Brain Fuels Success in Work and Life.
I've been a fan of Achor ever since I stumbled upon his 2011 TedTalk titled the Happy Secret to Better Work. Since then I've heard him interviewed on countless podcasts and television shows, but I had never read one of his books.
A significant health crisis in my family was the catalyst for finally picking up The Happiness Advantage. Stress, pressure, and anxiety were wearing me down. I was becoming less effective at managing the day-to-day of my personal and professional life.
Throughout the stress, Achor's TedTalk message kept coming back to me. He claimed that through the practice of positive psychology, we can rewire our brain for optimism which can lead to incredible results, not the least of which is happiness.
